Funeral Rites Held Tuesday at Baptist Church

E.C. Austin, 85, plains resident for more than 30 years died at his apartment home 203 N. 2nd St. Sunday morning at 9'o Clock after an illness of several weeks duration. The remains were interred in Floydada Cemetery late Tuesday afternoon following funeral rites at the First Baptist Church. Rev. A.L. Doyle, pastor of the church officiated.

Burial was with rites of the Masonic Order said at the gravesite.

Survivors include his widow. Sarah Elizabeth Hull Austin, six sons, Paul of Abilene, John of Lubbock, Hulbert of Borger, Lewis of Calif., Truett a member of the Armed Forces and Vern of Arkansas; and three daughter, Mrs. Sally Spence Reeves of South Plains, Mrs. Glennie Bell Bullard of Anthony, TX. and Mrs. Anna Claire Wilson of Floydada.

A native of Ohio, Edward Coles Austin was born September 15, 1861 at Austinburg, Ohio. He came to Texas early in life and was married at Doan's Store (Doan's Crossing) Wilbarger Co. TX by Judge Doan 26-Dec-1897 to Miss Sarah Elizabeth Hull, who survives. The family moved to Floyd Co. just prior to World War I and made their home in the Fairview Community until 15 years ago (1932) when Mr. and Mrs. Austin too, up residence in Plainview. Nearly three years ago they returned to Floydada.

Pallbearers were Jack Reeves, Raymond, Reeves, Bill Austin, Austin Ruddick, Roger Ruddick and Guy Bullard.
