He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, reaching the rank of Tech. Sgt. He was employed by the Corpus Christi Hardware Co., and later by the Corpus Christi Army Depot from which he retired in 1980. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas where he served for many years as a Sunday school teacher in the Junior Department, and in the music ministry. He most recently was an active member of the Pastor's Class. He also served as an assistant to the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop No. 11 in the 1950's. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge No. 189.
