Ferman Schaefer, 86, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. Family Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona or to the Lacona Public Library. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com.

Ferman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irma; children: Norbert (Sandy) Schaefer of Lacona, Craig Schaefer of Ft. Dodge, and Barb (Jack) Byers of Milo; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings: David (Mary) Schaefer and Gerald (Jane) Schaefer. Also surviving are many relatives and friends
