Marion Robert Alexander, Sr. was born in Lampasas, Texas on December 13, 1925 to Cleborne and Era Del. He attended Pleasanton High School, and the University of Arkansas, where he lettered in football a combined total of four years.

He joined the Army Air Core during WWII, and married Margaret Lee Shipman. Together they had five boys in seven years, Marion "Bob" Jr., Daniel, Theodore, Timothy, and Lester Paul. Margaret coined him "Bob" and he went by M. R. Bob Alexander thereafter.

After the war, as a young man, he was a door to door Bible salesman while attending Abilene Christian College as a Ministerial Student, he then transition to selling roofing and remodeling door to door for 25 years. For a time he was a minister at West Avenue Church of Christ, in San Antonio.

Later in life he went to work for Sterling Bakery in San Antonio where he was encouraged to become an Accountant and complete his Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He was married to Ella Mae Boyertwice, and life time friends with Gertrude "Trudy" Carmine.

He retired to Rocky Top on Lake Buchannan in 1988. He devoted his retired life to researching Bible history and ministering to others through a newsletter. He researched and wrote Alexander Family History in a series of newsletters as well.

He lived at the Herman and Sons Retirement Home for six years,then moved to his final residence in Burnet Texas. In June of 2012, he attended his 76th consecutive Alexander Family Reunion, where he was honored for being the Oldest Alexander in Attendance.

He was preceded in death by Clebe, Era Del, Margaret, Bob Jr., and Trudy.He is survivedby 4 sons, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation 6 p.m. Friday, Edgar Funeral Home, Burnet. Services and burial 2 p.m. Saturday, Alexander Family Cemetery, Lampasas.
