Elizabeth Jean Peter Col was born August 16, 1919 at the old Columbia Hospital in San Jose, California and passed away on August 14, 2012 in Merced, California at the age of 92 years.

She and her husband Raymond Thompson Col resided and raised their children in San Jose until February, 2008, when they moved to Merced.

Elizabeth Col was a life-long resident of California. She graduated from Hester Elementary School, Hoover Junior High School and San Jose High School. At high school, she was known as "Pete" among her friends and was elected President of the Student Council. She recalled defeating a boy who was really upset about losing to a "girl".

She graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Accounting in 1941, when the entire student body was about 5,000 students and the population of San Jose was about 100,000. Although Elizabeth had high enough grades to qualify to attend the University of California, Berkeley, she decided to go to San Jose State with her lifetime love Raymond "Tom" Col. She missed earning a dual degree in accounting and economics by one economic course, whose professor refused to allow women in his class.

Elizabeth was married to Raymond Thompson Col on December 31, 1941 and celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary in 2008.

After college she began working as an accountant. During World War II, she worked at Food Machinery Corporation, now known as FMC, as part of the war effort, while her husband Raymond Col served in London in the Office of Strategic Services during the bombing in the European Theater. After the war, she served in many PTAs as treasurer or auditor. Later, she served as accountant for her son Peter's business.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Thompson Col, her father, Werner Peter and her mother, Alice Marie Harrington.

She is also survived by her three children
; Jeanne-Marie Col, a PhD and Professor of Public Administration and Emergency Management at John Jay College of the City University of New York, Peter Raymond Col, a Doctor of Optomety with a practice in Pine Grove, California, and Albert Promis Col, a Family Practice Doctor, Dematologist, and Partner in Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) of Merced. California.

On Sunday, August 19, 2012, her immediate family gathered at the Col's residence at 523 Hummingbird Court, Merced, for a "Celebration of Life Service".

The funeral arrangements are being handled by Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, Merced, California.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested to make a donation to the American Cancer Association in the name of Elizabeth P. Col.
