William H Jones was the son of Thomas and Ann Jones. Born in Wales, he emigrated to the United States in 1893 along with his wife Mary Ann Jones and their children Gwillim (b. 1880), James W. (b. 1883) and Richard (b. 1885.) Children born to William and Mary in America included Mary (b. 1893), Thomas W. (1893-1963), Margaret (b. 1897) and Ann (b.1898.)
The family lived in Dorranceton, Luzerne County (1900 US Census). Richard worked as a coal miner. On 6 Aug 1909, he was killed by a fall of rock in the Woodward Colliery in Edwardsville.
