International Wargraves Photography Project
International Wargraves Photography Project

To photograph headstones of men and women who gave all for their country, regardless of nationality and geographical location.
To create interments using various documentation sources for these persons and present them on the Internet.
To make every reasonable effort to gather photos of the headstones and present them on the Internet.
To give the widest dissemination of knowledge of this project, garner support and assistance to this endeavor through a collective effort to locate and photograph the headstones, upload the interments and photos to the Interment, and assist relatives of the deceased and any other interested parties. The photos will be available to established organization such as, but not limited to, Genealogical institutions, museums, veterans organizations and historical archivists.
To bring to future generations the understanding of the effect of war in a visual form, so as to illustrate the loss and suffering that accompanies warfare.
To expand the concept of warfare by going beyond the scope of headstone photography and to include memorials, those people lost at sea, victims of persecution, and civilians not directly involved who were caught in the grip of conflict.
To approach this Project with the understanding the scope of the suffering is difficult to take in and for many their involvement in this Project will be for an extended period of time and may well pass to the future generation, if not generations, in order to gather anywhere near the number of graves, memorials and names that have resulted from warfare.
No conflict, no act of persecution, and no tragedy will be omitted from this Project.
It is hoped by creating a database of this size it will have a constructive impact on the way people throughout the world view war and its consequences.
