In March of 2008 I took my daughter on a learning Spring Break and one of our stops was the Stones River Memorial. The battle took place over three days and included the smaller battles of the Slaughtering Pen and Hells Half Acre. At the beginning of the tour there is a museum that shows a recreation film of the battle.
When we walked into the theatre, we were the only civilians in the room. Even my daughter understood the irony and the specialness of learning about a bit of our history with modern soldiers on their way to war.
These are the photos I took during the trip, and I hope that I gave them the reverence and respect that they deserve.
The small square stones have no names only numbers.
The rest of my photos are in a Photobucket file.
