Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Oberlin College, majoring in music education. Early in her career she taught school. After moving to Lewisburg in 1945, she was a member of Old Stone Presbyterian Church, where she faithfully served in various capacities. She was a member of AAUW, Federation of Women's Clubs, Lewisburg Garden Club, and a longtime participant of the Shepherd's Center of the Greenbrier Valley. Most importantly, her devotion was to her family and the many piano pupils she taught for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Andrew W. McLaughlin; her sister and her brother.
Survivors include: son, Philip L. (Paula) McLaughlin of Lewisburg; daughters, June Price (John) Strader of Virginia Beach, VA, and Alice M. (Donald "Smokey") McKnight of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Elizabeth M. (Pete) Romando, Philip L. (Sherry) McLaughlin, Jr., Jody R. Baker, Chris ] (Carin) Baker, Andrew (Julie) Strader, Hutton Strader, Andrew "Drew" (Amy) McKnight, and Emily (Cody) Tafel; 14 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Judy Cathay of St. Petersburg, FL, Alex McLaughlin of Charleston, Lee McLaughlin of Charles Town, Julia Ellen Warner of Madison, and Julia Anna Cazin of Raleigh. A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 3, at the Old Stone Presbyterian Church in Lewisburg where Dr. Dexter Taylor officiated. The family greeted their family and friends following the service at the church. A private family graveside service was held at Clifton Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Shepherd's Center of the Greenbrier Valley, 214 E. Washington Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901. Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg was in charge of arrangements.
