"Tank" Rollins was the son of James Madison Rollins and Elvina Spencer Baker. He had three half-siblings from the first marriage of his father: John, Delia and Mahala. He had nine siblings from his parent's marriage: Lucinda C., William, Elizabeth, Nancy, (Elias was the fifth child), David Daniel, Paul, Mary J., James Lafayette and Martha C.
"Tank" married Cecelia Roselette Love in Knox County, Indiana on August 2, 1872. To this marriage was born Jeremiah Madison, Lyman Lafayette, Amanda Elvina, Flora Jane, Nora Ethel, Cora E., Mary Margaret and my great-grandmother, Latillie Hope Rollins.
The family migrated to Mayes County, Oklahoma when it was still part of the Cherokee Nation along with an assortment of relatives. Tank would die of typhoid while they were there and be buried there. Sadly, the exact location has become unknown to his descendents.
His daughter Mary described him in a letter to her younger sister as a "good kind man" who was honest and accomadating to everyone. He'd give a shirt to a traveling stranger who had none. He was always tender to this wife. Mary could not recall ever witnessing an unkind word between them.
