Members - Friends Church A Virtual Cemetery created by: David Smith
Description: The map of Union Township in the 1878 Hendricks County history and atlas shows a Friends church on the Job Hadley farm in the very northeastern corner of Union Township. A subsequent 1904 plat map doesn't show the church so likely it wasn't in existence very long. In the late 1800's, there were several Quaker families (Hadley, Lowe, Hale, Coffin, etc.) in the northeastern portion of Union Township so it was not surprising that a church was started there. Most of these families had come to Indiana from North Carolina before the Civil War. From their obituaries, it appears that most of these families attended the Mill Creek Friends church south of Danville, the Hadley Friends church or the Sugar Grove Friends church near Plainfield and were buried there instead of in Union Township. Most of the persons listed below fit into this category.
