Winkler/Malloy Family A Virtual Cemetery created by: kricker61
Description: Known deceased descendants and ancestors of Lawrence R. Winkler and Virginia Rose Malloy are included in this "Virtual Cemetery". Larry & Ginny were a very important part of my life and I think of them often. A brief biography of the direct Winkler and Malloy ancestors who immigrated to America is also provided below. I would be glad to update based on information and/or add other descendants you wish to provide. Larry's grandfather Lawrence P. Winkler was born 8 July 1869 in Bavaria, the son of Peter Winkler. According to information on his death certificate, he immigrated from Bavaria at circa 1883 at age of 14; however, US Census records show other dates. He moved to Lima Ohio circa 1890, at age of 21. He married Rose Killoran February 1895 in Lima, OH. 1910 and 1920 US Census records listed his occupation as Tailor, and he had his own shop in Lima, OH. Lawrence died June 2, 1925 in Lima, OH. He is buried in Section D Plot 24 at Gethsemani Cemetery, Lima, OH. Ginny's paternal great grandparents John Malloy and Ellen Coughlin were both born circa 1825 in Ireland. Exact dates of their immigration to America, or when and where they were married, are not yet known; however, it was prior to son John J Malloy's birth on Kelly's Island, OH in April 1861. John & Ellen moved the family to Logansport Indiana, and sons Richard & Robert were born there. They lived there until John's death in 1881 and Ellen's passing in 1896. Eldest son John J. Malloy was working as a Tin & Coppersmith in Indiana by the time of his 18th birthday in 1880. He married Catherine Fay in 1893 and they settled in Lima, Ohio.
