K-9 Command A Virtual Cemetery created by: C. Bryan
Description: Burial site founded in mid-1940s for WWII war dogs. These dedicated animals served to protect and defend US Military instalations. One man was their master(s) - and training was atack-to-the-death. Unfortunately, this made "man's best friend" a killer, and thus unsuited for domestic compatibility.Since the first domesticated Wolf became our servant, a bond between human and Dog is likely the closest of two such different spicies, and they often serve us to the death. It is cruel to debase a dog's natural love/servitude of humans - but they will learn love or aggression with equal enthusiasm, and a soldier of any blood is a credit to his Nation. The Service animals with memorials here represent several burried on the site before formal establishment of the Cemetery. Included (especially on the Eastern side) are pets of Officer class military from Fort MacArthur.
