Spotted Fever Outbreak A Virtual Cemetery created by: CapnKen
Description: In 1811 and 1812 in Rindge this disease was prevalent in the local area. Around New England it prevailed in later years, in other localities it took many more lives than in Rindge. This is a serious illness that is spread by ticks and was often fatal. The cause was unknown at the time and Doctors struggled with treatment. Still around today, it is carried by a various tick species that occur in the north-east states and other ticks nation wide. When diagnosed early patients usually respond well to anti-biotic treatment. The exact number of fatalities caused by this disease is not known, but I will add them as I find them.
