US AIR FORCE, ARMY, & NAVY NURSE CORPS

U.S. Air Force Nurse Corps. The Nurse Corps consists entirely of commissioned officers. New members of the Air Force Nurse Corps are required to hold at minimum a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree prior to receiving a commission. Members of the Air Force Nurse Corps work in all aspects of Air Force Medicine and can serve as Flight Nurse in aeromedical evacuation missions, nurse practitioner, and nurse anesthetist..The Army Nurse Corps became a permanent corps of the Medical Department under the Army Reorganization Act passed by Congress on 2 February 1901. Its motto is "EMBRACE THE PAST – ENGAGE THE PRESENT – ENVISION THE FUTURE" and it mission statement declares that "All actions and tasks must lead and work toward promoting the wellness of Warriors and their families, supporting the delivery of Warrior and family healthcare, and all those entrusted to our care and ultimately, positioning the Army Nurse Corps as a force multiplier for the future of military medicine.."The United States Navy Nurse Corps was officially established by Congress in 1908; however, unofficially, women had been working as nurses aboard Navy ships and in Navy hospitals for nearly 100 years. Navy Nurses are deployed all over the world; participating in humanitarian and combat support missions with Fleet Surgical Teams, as flight nurses, aboard hospital ships and aircraft carriers, and boots on ground with the Marine Corps and Army.
