B-17G #42-30062 'Reilly's Racehorse' Lt Scoggins
A Virtual Cemetery created by: B24CoPilotNiece
Description: B-17G #42-30062 100th BG, 418th B Sq 'Reilly's Racehorse' Lt Scoggins Crew - This plane had three different names, each with a different crew. The names were 'Bastard's Bungalow', 'Terry N Ten (TNT)', and 'Reilly's Racehorse'. Scoggins and his crew were using the Reilly plane the day the plane went down. The airplane exploded just prior to crash landing after coming under attack near the target of Brunswick, Germany. All were thought to have bailed out, however, Pilot 1st Lt Arthur E Scoggins was killed. He was not reported to be injured prior to giving the order to bail; it is unclear how he was killed upon bailing out. There is documentation that he did not go down with the ship upon the explosion.
