Being from Texas, I knew of the tragedy that Charles Whitman murdered at the University of Texas in Austin. He killed 14, including the unborn child of one victim, and wounded 31 other people. His first two victims were his mother and his wife the night before. Austin Police Officers Ramiro Martinez, Houston McCoy and Jerry Day, and a civilian Allen Crum were able to shoot and kill Whitman after 1 hour and 36 minutes. Being interested in history and crime, his case intrigued me. I never can explain why someone would do such a horrific tragedy. Please leave a flower for these victims because they are truly missed by their family and friends and countless others.
