Beloved Sister

Devoted sister that made sure that all of our needs and wants were met. Every day was Christmas in her eyes. My sister, though a registered nurse knowing the importance of taking care of her own health needs, without our knowledge, neglected her health to make sure that both of our parents remained home during their final illnesses. She continued to work on her job, care for and direct us in taking turns in our parents care. Two years after our fathers death, and several months before our mothers death, Joyce had a massive heart attack followed by a stroke at the age of 46 years old. She remained paralyzed on her entire right side for the rest of her life. After my sister's death, we found her diary in which her main prayer was for her to live long enough to care for our parents at home until they closed their eyes in death. Her prayer was granted. After Joyce had her stroke, she shared my mothers bedroom, both in their own hospital bed. With her left hand extended holding my mothers hand while both were asleep, our mother died. I found my mother this way and had the sad duty of waking Joyce to tell her that Mommy had gone home. My sister Joyce: A true servant of God. Thank God that families are forever. Blessings.
