Gian and allied families Virtual Cemetery created by: EFRay Description: The Gian family were Egyptian Jews who were run out of the country around 1956, when the Jewish persecution by Nassar was getting worse to intolerable. They first fled to France and then part of the family came to the US in the sixties. At their peak, there were greater than 80,000 Jews in Egypt. Now there are probably less than 100. The people who have control of the Jewish records in Cairo will neither allow them out of the country to the rightful owners nor will they allow copies to be made.My purpose is to preserve as much of the family here in the US that I can find. This, of course, also includes their burials.
