Aaron served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received a purple heart from a combat wound.
After his enlistment, Aaron relocated in Glendale, Oregon where he worked at the Robert Dollar Sawmill.
In 1952, Aaron married Elsie Lowe of Oneida, Tennesse. They had two daughters Lois Jean and Judy Lynn Thomas;(passed away at age 3 1/2 years). The marriage ended in divorce.

He enjoyed traveling and visiting with his family and friends. He visited his daughter Lois when she lived in Oregon, California, and Washington; his niece, Susan in Maryland; family in his homestate of Tennessee. Aaron was a generous, kind man who is missed.
Aaron was a wonderful son. For the last ten years of his life, prior to being diagnoised with cancer, Aaron took care of his elderly mother, Minnie. He saw to it that she had a home and he provided for her. When she would introduce Aaron to people, she would say, "This is Aaron, my middle boy."

My uncle loved going on vacations and traveling. He always like to travel with his family and go to see family. He enjoyed stopping along the way and visiting parks, caves, and famous landmarks. He often told me that the back seat was the best seat in the car. I didn't understand that when I was a kid, but now I know exactly what he meant. He made several from Oregon to Tennessee by car and Oregon to Maryland by plane. I am very fortunate to have had Aaron for my uncle. He truly was the best!
Aaron was cremated and his ashes are buried at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Family links: Parents: John Henry Thomas (1875 - 1948) Minnie LaVerne Smith Thomas Bryant Kidd (1901 - 1999) Children: Judy Lynn Thomas (1958 - 1962)* *Calculated relationship
