Born in Missouri to Cecil and Evelyn Williams, the family moved to several states before settling in southern California. She had 3 younger brothers. She played the piano and organ at church in Gardena, CA, where she met and married Clyde Shields at the young age of 17. She graduated high school in 1946. The married couple moved to the Philippines to become missionaries and were there off and on for about 20 years. They raised 4 children together. Virginia finished out her life in southern California, a proud grandmother and great grandmother. She was employed by World Vision. She loved God and her family and is greatly missed.
