He married Martha A. Carden on November 28, 1854. (The Tenn. State Archives were unable to locate his marriage records between the years of Apr. 1848 - Apr. 1859). He was the son of James & Martha Cook. He married 2nd to Eri Bowers Holcomb on October 24, 1905 in Monroe County, Tn.
He enlisted in Co. F, 3rd Reg. Mounted Infantry on March 3, 1862 in Madisonville, Tn.
