Jacob moved from Pennsylvania to New York as a child with his father and the rest of the family. He ultimately married, bought land, and settled in the Town of Hopewell, Ontario County, NY.
Jacob married Mary Newman, a daughter of Elisha Newman, on March 2, 1826. They had three sons and three daughters: Mary Ann b. 1827, Elizabeth b. 1828, Susan b. 1830, Leonard b. 1833, Newman b. 1841, and Abraham b. 1843.
They also had an adopted daughter, Mary Jane b. 1851. Mary Jane married first James Smith and then John Chism.
Jacob's life is the subject of a history book: "It Happened at Hopewell: Jacob Isenhour's Cobblestone Legacy," by Leigh Jones and Stephen Agard, available at The Ontario County Historical Society Museum, 55 North Main Street, Canandaigua, New York 14424.
