Mabel was the daughter of Art and Minnie Gerlach Hendren. Her siblings were Elmer, Robert and Bernice. She was first married to Dwight Wilson Henry, a farmer from Knox County, Ohio. He died before the birth of their only son. She remarried to Norris Westbrook and they had a daughter before she died after childbirth complications.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mabel Alice Westbrook, 34, wife of Norris Westbrook, 6 Krieg Street, who died Tuesday in Cleveland Clinic Hospital, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Householder Funeral Home. The Rev. C.M. Danford will officiate and burial will be made in Wilson cemetery.
Mrs. Westbrook had been ill since April 12 when she gave birth to a daughter by Caesarean section and death was attributed to uremia.
Born in Newark, Sept. 9, 1917, she was the daughter of Arthur Hendren, and the late Mrs. Minnie (Gerlach) Hendren. Her mother died when she was a small child and she was reared in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Grace Vanatta, 142 N. Williams St.
She was a graduate of Newark High school and a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Her first husband, Dwight Henry, died in 1948 and she leaves her husband Norris Westbrook and infant daughter, Mary Alice and a son, Dwight Henry; her father of Lake Drive; one sister, Mrs. Marion (Bernice) Mackey of Toledo and two brothers, Elmer Hendren in Columbus and Robert Hendren in New Jersey.
The body is at the funeral home.
