My maternal Grandmother
Wife of Otis Smith, Mother of Orpha Heselden and Harry Smith, Grandmother of Florence Marie, who she raised. In 1939, at the age when most people were retiring, Jessie and her husband took on a two year old granddaughter to raise after the early deaths of her parents, William Lyle Heselden and Orpha Heselden. One sister, Lorene Goodacer, four brothers: Floyd, Allie, Roy, and Clyde Palmer. She spent her early years in and around Canton and Farmington, Illinois. Was married to Otis on Dec 25, 1901. Her son-in-law died on Christmas Day, 1936. She was a member of the Oneida Methodist Church.
