Curtis Matthew Duncan tragically succumbed to a lifelong battle of Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder and Depression when he took his own life on August 7, 2000 at the age of 31. He left behind his mother and step-father, his father, three sisters, and many, many relatives and very dear friends. Our lives were shattered on August 7, 2000, the day Curtis was discovered lying dead in his apartment. He was found holding a cross and had left a hand-written note expressing his sorrow for what he was about to do, but explaining that the pain of living was too much for him to bear.

Curtis packed an abundance of life into his short 31 years. He was the owner and operator of the popular LA tour, Oh Heavenly Tour! (previously Graveline Tours), which lead Hollywood infomaniacs to the death sites and final resting places of celebrities. He was also a talented singer, songwriter and musician. Throughout his career, Curtis performed as the lead singer in a variety of Sunset Boulevard-headliner bands, including Duncan, Non, Diving Near Atlantis, and Shangri-La. Under his alias, "Duncan," Curtis wrote, produced and sang on an album in 1996 titled "Placid Jilts & Mysticine."

Curtis' passion for music was preceded by a strong desire to entertain. He spent his late teens and early 20's pursuing an acting and modeling career. Best known for his role as a cast member on the television series 'Saved by the Bell' he also won spots in several commercials and print ads.

Curtis attended West Valley-Mission College in San Jose where he majored in Drama and won second place for his drama entry in the Bay Area Olympiad of the Arts. He graduated from Saugus High School in Saugus, CA in 1988 after starring in several school plays, including It's a Wonderful Life. Prior to that, Curtis attended Canyon High School in Anaheim Hills where he excelled in the sport of wrestling.

To his family and friends, Curtis will be remembered for so many wonderful (and sometimes quirky) things. He had an extraordinary sense of humor and was gifted with an ability to make others laugh. He was a born entertainer and had us all laughing from a very early age. We still echo his character voices and giggle when we think about some of his practical jokes.

Curtis also had a love of all creatures great and small. As a vegan vegetarian, he was an advocate for animal rights. He refused to wear or sit on leather, or eat anything that came within five blocks of an animal. Although we thought him a bit extreme, he was passionate about protecting all of God's creatures, down to the smallest ant.

Curtis was intelligent, passionate, and so gifted. He wrote beautiful lyrics, songs, and poetry and was constantly striving to gain control over his chemical imbalances, and moreso, to be a better person.

His death was more devastating to all who knew and loved him than words could describe. We still shed tears of sadness over the tragedy of Curtis' death and knowing how much he must have been suffering. There will be a void in our hearts for the rest of our lives. We will never recover from this tragedy, but we know Curtis is finally at peace. And he continues to make us laugh as we reminisce about our time spent with him here on earth. (bio by: Kristy Duncan Reinwald)

Thank you for such a beautiful memorial. Curtis sounded like a lovely person. Depression is a horrible illness; my father was a severe depressant. RIP ,Curtis and know how many people loved you.
