John DeWitt Lee - known by his family as "John D." - was born June 14, 1911 at Witt Springs, Arkansas to John Ulysses and Sarah Jane Colyott Lee. In his younger years he was a farmer but spent most of his life as a construction foreman.
Always a competitor, he loved playing cards, Cribbage, and dominoes. He was an avid fisherman and spent many hours out in a boat fishing with his sons and grandsons.
He married Thelma Alice Cotner on August 8, 1933. She, his parents, one grandchild, three brothers and eight sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived at the time of his passing by four children: Jim Lee and wife Carolyn, Bill Lee and wife Donna, Ron Lee and wife Bonnie all of Broken Arrow, and Norma Fuller and husband Jerry of Porter; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; and one sister, Beulah Costephens of St. Louis, Missouri.
John was a longtime member of the Broken Arrow church of Christ, where a memorial service was held on February 18th under the direction of Christian-Gavlik Funeral Home.
