Born Sep 22, 1838 in Goderich Twp, Ontario, (near the Village of Bayfield) and died Jul 30, 1920 in Bayfield, Ontario. He married Agnes Falconer Apr 17, 1868 in Bayfield, Ont. The 1871 census shows John, 33, living in Stanley Township, Huron County South. He's listed as a fisherman. The 1881 census lists him in Tuckersmith Township, Huron County Centre with Agnes, his wife, Margaret, Agnes, Mary, John and Charles, their children. He was then listed as a farmer, of Scottish origin and a member of the Church of England. According to the 1901 census, John was living in Bayfield Village, Huron County with Agnes, 49, William, 17 and Helen, 11. It is believed he had a barber shop in Bayfield and taught his son John (Jack) the trade. John`s cause of death - Primary: Senile Debility, Secondary: Carcinoma.
