Alice Edmonia Winston Johnson, lovingly known as "Aunt Alice", went to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 15, 2005, at the age of 92.

Alice was born August 4, 1913, in Gordonsville, VA. She then moved to New York City to work and sent most of her money home to help her mother and father, Lucy and Charlie Winston.

She grew up in the age of the "bunny hop" and Duke Ellington big band swing and thoroughly enjoyed being "part and party" to this age.

Alice returned to Gordonsville to care for her aging parents. She worked in Gordonsville as a housekeeper. Alice was a resident at the Laurels. While there, she was an avid bingo player and loved to needle point. She was always making special things for other people. The high point of her week was being in church services at the Laurels. She told me to tell you, and all of her friends, "That she will miss you-But, she will be waiting for you."

Alice is preceded in death by her daughter, Ida Westbrook.

She is survived by one sister, one granddaughter, one grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews. Aunt Alice loved all of the children and enjoyed being part of their lives.
