Young was National Secretary of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity for more than 30 years (1929-1961) and was a founder of the Fraternity Executives Association in 1930, serving as its president in 1940-41. He served as president of the College Fraternity Editors Association in 1955-56. He was a 1928 Miami University graduate and served as president of the Miami University Alumni Association. Veteran of World War II.
