My grandmother, or "MoMo" as I called her, was a free spirit, a free thinker. She went back to college after her children were mostly grown and earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She went on to work as a waitress at a cafe because she loved meeting the interesting people.
I remember her taking me when I was a little girl to see the Christmas tree in downtown Chicago. She also bought me a pair of very un-practical cowboy boots, which I loved! Nothing like a city girl going to kindergarten in slippery cowboy boots!
While her children were in school, she worked as an office aide. She spent many years in Chicago, though had roots in Lamar County, Alabama and at the last stage of her life, moved to be near family in Michigan.
Cause of death was lung cancer. Taken far too soon.
Thank you so much to mozer - Angels Flower Garden for sponsoring this memorial!
