Manual A. Gonzalez, Jr., 43 years old, a 16 year veteran of the Department of Corrections, was fatally stabbed by an inmate at the California Institution for Men, Chino.
Officer Gonzalez is survived by his parents Manuel and Bertha Gonzalez; younger siblings: Rosalinda, David and Delia; former wife Sylvia Ortiz and their children: Mark, Steven, Roxanna, and Jessica; his financee Tania Cuarda, and their children: Manuel and Gustavo.
Office Gonzalez served in the US Army from 1982-1986.
He was the brother-in-law to slain sheriff's Deputy Jerry Ortiz.
