In 1892, he founded the Brown Palace Hotel, which became internationally known as one of the most exclusive hotels in the world. Some of it's guests include; Presidents Taft, Theodore Roosevelt, Harding, Truman, Eisenhower, Romanian Queen Marie, Chinese President Sun Yat Sen, "Unsinkable" Molly Brown, and the Beatles. It is currently listed as one of the top 500 Greatest Hotels in the World. He homesteaded the 160 acres that are now downtown Denver and donated the land for the Colorado State Capital. He also founded the Denver Public Library.
