East Baton Rouge Parish
Clyde, as he was called by his family was the 6th of 12 children born to Andrew Alexander Tays and Fannie Crockett Moores Tays.
He was born in Lawrence County, Tennessee, and died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He was the husband of Mildred G. McCarley and the father of Martha Craig Tays Burress.
His parents built a large two-story home in 1914 on what is referred to as old Hwy 45 in Booneville, Prentiss County, Mississippi.
His unmarried sisters continued to live in "the house" as it was lovingly called until the last one passed away. The home was then sold to the entertainer, Jerry Lee Lewis. His childhood home was a landmark in the area for over 80 years until it was sold. Sadly it is now in disrepair since none of the siblings are still alive to see after it.
