Franklin Charles Brewer, 71, of Mount Sterling died at 4:13 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.
Born Dec. 16, 1940, near Granger, Mo., he was the son of Johnnie and Rachel Eichelberger Brewer. He married Pat Smith and they divorced. He married Lona Snowberger and they divorced. On Oct. 26, 1985, he married Melody Wasson in Mount Sterling.
Mr. Brewer operated an auto repair shop in rural Mount Sterling and had worked at Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison. He was a graduate of Keosauqua High School.
He attended Mount Sterling Community Church, was a trustee of Harness Cemetery and had served as mayor of Mount Sterling.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Charles Brewer, at home; one daughter, Tara Brewer, at home; his mother of Keosauqua; one sister, Ellen Kreiss of Keosauqua; and one brother, James Brewer of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Brewer will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Harness Cemetery, Mount Sterling.
A memorial has been established.
