SSG Whitaker passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. Born in Swansea, SC, he was a son of the late Henry Asbury Whitaker and Ethel Gertrude Wise Whitaker. He was retired from the U.S. Army where he was a Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Whitaker also worked in the Meathouse in West Columbia.
Survivors include: sisters, Wilma Rediske of Seattle, WA, Ruby E. Bradney of Lexington, Zelma Tumlin of Riverdale, GA and Elise Humphries of Blythewood; brothers, 1SG (US Army Ret.) Louie W. Whitaker of Chapin and SSG (US Army Ret.) Burnette O. Whitaker of West Columbia. He was preceded in death by a brother, Stacey A. Whitaker.
