Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 PM with Walter Droke and Bill Luther officiating. Interment will follow in the Swiss Cemetery.

Mrs. Atkins was born in Newport, RI to the late Samuel H. and Vivian Cottrell Fields. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, John R. Atkins, Sr. of Hohenwald; sons, John R. Atkins, Jr. (Masschsette) of Hohenwald and Merle Ralph Cowie, Jr. (Deborah) of Vihalia, MS; daughters, Linda Peery of Visalia, CA, Verleen Hilley of Port Charlotte, FL, Evonne Staggs (Brent) of Hohenwald, Vicky Hensley (Johnny) of Cordova, Melody Carroll of Hohenwald and Terri Wachtstetter (Timothy) of Searcy, AR; brothers, Shamuel H. Fields, Jr. of Dallas, TX and George Fields of Hialeah, FL; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David M. Atkins.
