ACCIDENT VICTIM BURIED JAN. 9TH IN NELSON CEMETERY
Orville Mandon Englund, who was asphyxiated while operating his car in a garage in Chicago, was buried Jan. 9th in Nelson Cemetery. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock from Our Saviour's Lutheran Church at Nelson, Minnesota with Rev. C. P. Thronson officiating. Milford Gulbranson sand "Rock of Ages" and "God Will Take Care of You" during the services, accompanied by Mrs. Bernice Schelin.
Pallbearers were Marvin Eddy, Ralph Lupkes, Theodore Martin, Carl C. Nelson, Roger Hawkins and Walter Akers.
A full military service was conducted with the Alexandria and Osakis Legion posts participating.
Orville Englund, son of Albert and Bessie Larson Englund of Osakis township, was born June 28, 1912. He was 38 years old at the time of his death.
He was baptized at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Nelson by Rev. O. Dahle, and was confirmed by Rev. C. E. Hanson.
Until called into the service in 1941, he stayed at home helping his parents on the farm. He was wounded in France in July 1944, receiving the Purple Heart award. In October 1944 he was returned to the States for hospitalization at Hines Hospital in Illinois. He remained at the hospital as an employee after his discharge from the Army, where he remained until his untimely death. Surviving are his parents, one brother, Emil, and one sister Mrs. Delmore Braaten (Lucille) of Kensington. One Nephew, Marlin Braaten and other relatives also survive.
