James "Jim" Blair, age 82, passed away July 30, 2009 in Richland, Washington. He was born January 4, 1927 to Inez and Duncan Blair.

He attended Kennewick schools until 1944 when he enlisted in the Navy. His tour of duty on a transport ship was in the South Pacific and China Sea. He was a Reservist and retired from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer.

He and his wife Jessie raised two sons in Kennewick. He worked for the Corps of Engineers at the Pasco office retiring in 1983. His duties covered many tasks along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, operating a 26' LCM boat hauling equipment or Army Personnel.

He was an avid sportsman, fishing on the rivers and hunting in the Blue Mountains and a life member of the NRA.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jessie, of Pasco; sons Michael & wife Glenda of Kennewick; Robbie of Richland; grandchildren James and partner Brad of Richland, Tim & wife Krista of Boise, Idaho, Jeannette & husband Marty Bales of Pasco; step-grandchildren Ryan Lawrence and Kris Holden; great grandsons, Tye Maynard, Jaden and Tyler Bales of Pasco and Carson Blair of Boise, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents and only sibling, Corinna Betker.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2009, 10:00a.m., at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th & Union in Kennewick. A Celebration of Jim's Life will follow at 11:00am at the Living Room Church at 711 W. Vineyard Drive in Kennewick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kennewick VFW, 28 E. 10th Avenue, Kennewick, WA 99336.
