Roman Catholic Saint. In 1901, working as a servant, she severely injured her legs with boiling water. Bedridden for the rest of her life she began to have visions as well as bodily marks and sores, in locations corresponding to the crucifixion wounds of Jesus Christ (stigmata). Townsfolk and later pilgrims from around the world visited her in Mindelstetten, Germany and sought advise and guidance from Anna. She died in 1925 of cancer. Pope John Paul II beatified her in 1999. On October 21, 2012 she was canonized by Pope Benedict XVI. Her Catholic feast day is her date of death, October 5th.
