Statesboro - Mr. Elton Aubrey Kennedy, 80, died Tuesday, April 23 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Bulloch County native lived in Savannah since 1945 before returning to Bulloch County in 1995. Mr. Kennedy was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army and served under General Patton in the Normandy Invasion, France, Germany, and Belgium (Battle of the Bulge). He was the recipient of two Bronze stars, a member of the VFW Post 660 and Post 10825, and the American Legion Post 36 and Post 90. Mr. Kennedy retired as a Construction Superintendant with Bonitz of Georgia after thirty-one years and was a member of the Georgia Home Guard, Riverside Baptist Church in Savannah. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his wife, the late Erma Deal Kennedy.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Henry Iler of Statesboro; son and daughter-in-law, A. Wayne and Susie Kennedy of Statesboro; brother, Hiram Kennedy of Statesboro; sisters, Jincie K. Olliff of Statesboro and Lucille K. Hannah of Statesboro; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services: 3:00 p. m. Thursday in the chapel of Hodges-Turner-Anderson Funeral Home.

Burial: Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
