William Thomas Cartrette, Sr. was born March 17, 1894 in Horry County, South Carolina to Richard Kenneth Cartrette, Jr. and Rhoda Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Sarvis Cartrette. He married Emma Caldonia Martin Cartrette, and they were the parents of six children: Richard Kenneth Cartrette, II, William Thomas Cartrette, Jr., Ida Mae Cartrette, Ethel Lee Cartrette, Edna E. Cartrette, and an infant son. William died at age 56 on December 17, 1950 in Horry County and is buried in the Cane Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Horry County. Through his mother William was of French Huguenot and English descent. His mother's maiden name, Sarvis, is a coatal Carolina Native American surname. I hope someone will add a photo of William.
