Services for Raymond Bray, 94 of Healdton will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at the East Lincoln Church of Christ, with Carl Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery in Healdton under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
Raymond, 94, was born October 6, 1918, in Healdton to Walter and Bessie (Simmeral) Bray. He died October 15, 2012, still residing in Healdton.
Raymond married Juanita Ratliff in Healdton, August 31, 1940. The couple made their home in Oklahoma. City from 1941 to 1965. They lived in Mena, Arkansas, from 1965 to 1983, where Raymond worked as an accountant. In 1983 the family returned to Healdton where they remained active in their community and church. Raymond opened Bray's Bookkeeping and Tax Service after his retirement.
Raymond enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing card games, making candy for the principals at school and walking. He loved the Lord and was a devout elder of the East Lincoln Church of Christ in Healdton. Even after he went blind, he still preached and recited scripture.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Juanita; brother, Glenn Bray; sister, Evelyn Bray; son, Bill Bray Sr; daughter, Kathy Bray Henderson; and grandson, Bill Bray Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca McLemore, Healdton; one son, Tom Bray, Pennsylvania; brother, Don Bray, Mena, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Angie McCord and husband, Chris, The Woodlands, Texas, Julie Choate and husband, Jack, Claremore, Lori Phillips and husband, Scott, Wylie, Texas, Thomas Bray Jr., Pennsylvania, Matthew McLemore and wife, Mary, Healdton and Rebekah Barrett, Lexington; 14 great grandchildren, Brock and Blair McCord, Jacob and Joshua Choate, Gus, Barrett, Grayson and Brayden Phillips, Rachel Bray, Alana, Aiden and Austen McLemore, Owen and Hunter Bray; and a chosen family member, Janet Reynolds.
