She was preceded in death by her parents Henry Roy and Louie Simmons Pleasants and son James Roy Galey.
She and her husband of 60 years, James O. Galey were in the second grade together at Treadwell School. After graduating from Memphis State University, she taught the first grade and later worked in the Special Education Department of Memphis City Schools. She enjoyed travel and camping with her friends of River M. Good Sam Club. Mrs. Galey was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution being descended from Colonial Virginia families including Cocke, Ferris, Fleming, Michie, Pleasants, Randolph, Tarleton, and Woodson.
She attended and was a member of Highland Heights Baptist Church for over 80 years. She is survived by her children Carol (Les) Hoyle and Kenneth Alan (Cindy) Galey; grandchildren, Kaye (Shannon) Ford, Lee Hoyle, Maribeth Hoyle, John Michael Hoyle, Lauren Hoyle, Jessica (Matt) Cain, Daniel Alan (Audrey) Galey and Joshua David Galey; and two great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, October 19, at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 20 also at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery
