Elizabeth Papp Best
Word has been received that Elizabeth Papp Best of North Syracuse, New York, a former Falmouth resident, died March 18 at the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, New York. She was 93.
She was the wife of the Reverend Allen C. Best, who died in 1983. They were married in 1938.
Her parents, Alexander and Margaret Papp, were born in Hungary and moved to North Falmouth from New Rochelle, New York in 1927. They built the Papp homestead, which they operated as a guest house.
Mrs. Best graduated from Lawrence High School. She met her husband when he was serving as summer pastor at the North Falmouth Congregational Church in 1936.
After moving from Cape Cod, she lived in New York and in North Carolina returning to her summer home in Pocasset for many years.
She leaves a son, Stephen Best of Utica, New York; a daughter, Janet Best of Prior Lake, Minnesota; two brothers, Alexander Papp of East Falmouth and John Papp of Fairbanks, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Walter Papp, Stephen Papp and Margaret Roskovics.
A memorial service will be held July 22 at 1 p.m. in the Congregational Church, 155 Old Main Road.
