Ruth F. Lawrence

Ruth F. Lawrence of Dothan, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Friday, October 12, 2012, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Dothan with Reverend Allie Freeman officiating. Fellowship Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Burial will be at 1 P.M. Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Forest Crest Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.

The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 17, 2012, before the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the "Building Fund" or "In Christ Name Fund" c/o First United Methodist Church, 1380 W. Main St. Dothan, AL 36301, or Gentiva Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave, Dothan, AL 36303.

Ruth was born November 12, 1929, in Malone, FL to Milton and Verna Ford. She graduated from Malone High School and married William G. (Bill) Lawrence of Natchez, MS. Most of her married life was spent in Birmingham, AL. Ruth worked as a secretary for several companies. They had one son, William G. (Billy) Lawrence, Jr. Ruth attended the First Presbyterian Church and was active with the Hand Bells Choir. After her husband's death, she moved to Dothan, became a member of the First United Methodist Church. She has been very active in the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women and 50 Forward Ministries.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by her son, William G. (Billy) and a sister, Grace F. Locke.

Surviving relatives include her daughter-in-law, Rebecca Lawrence of Aledo, TX, a granddaughter, Robbie Elizabeth Lawrence of Los Angeles, CA; and a grandson, David Grayson Lawrence of Seattle, WA; a sister, Georgia Simpson of Galveston, IN; a brother, John Ford (Gwen) of Greenwood, FL. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ruth was loved and adored by many people and will be greatly missed.
