John Randolph Winchester (known as Ran) was born to James and Clarissa Berry-Winchester. He married Martha Binga-Gordon on 4-14-1893, most likely in St. Paul, MN. Seven years later, they settled in Chicago, IL where Ran worked as a janitor. In 1906, they bought a storefront residence at 3223 S. State St. establishing a real estate business. The couple was married for almost 25 years when, Ran was murdered (gunned down) by his stepson, George D. Gordon on 4/6/1911 in a dispute over money. George was Martha's previously adopted son with David Gordon.
