DARLINGTON - Funeral services for Mr. Arthur Alford of Darlington will be conducted 12:00 o'clock noon Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012 at Round O Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. M.A. McMillan, Sr., pastor officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by Jordan Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Alford was born in Darlington County Oct. 6 1928, a son of the late Abe and Elizabeth Alford. He died Tuesday October 9, 2012. He received his education in the Darlington County Public School System. He was employed at the Budd Company in Philadelphia until he retired in 1994. He was a member of Herbert E Millen Masonic Lodge 151 PHA. After moving back to Darlington he became a member of Eastbound Masonic Lodge # 147.
Survivors are: his wife; Geneva J. Alford; six daughters, Eloise (Thomas) Bolen, Ineatha (Danny) Hall, Gwendolyn (Gilbert) Whaley, Sharon (Stanley) Carn, Yolanda Alford, and Genora (Donald) Hill; one son Johnnie Gregg; 27 grandchildren, 36 great-grand children, 3 great- great grand children; two sisters, Hazel (Robert) McDonald and Willie (David) Anderson; 3 sisters- in- law, 3 brothers- in- law; a special aunt, Sue Genia Josey; a special cousin, Everlena Smith; a special longtime friend Paul Sims; and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and other friends.
Eastbound Masonic Lodge #147 will perform final rites 6:00PM this evening in the funeral home chapel.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 2209 Greenfield Road, Darlington, and the residence of his daughter Genora Alford, 2191 Greenfield Road, Darlington.
