Edward Beavers, age 89 of Victory Ave. (Haymond Community ), Grafton, WV, moved to his eternal home Saturday evening, July 23, 2016 from the Wallace B. Nursing Home.

On August 1, 2016 he would have been ninety years old.
He was born in Kasson, WV, the first of four sons, George, Glenn, and Jack to George R. and Otie C. (Pitzer) Beavers, all deceased. He was the grandson of William Edward and Martha Beavers.

Educated in Barbour County Schools, he left Kasson High School to serve in the Army during WWII. Upon discharge from the Army he married Wanda Ruth Wilson. Together they shared a daughter, W. Jean “Jeanie” Kelley (K. Norman).

In 1952, his faith was tested at the loss of his wife in child birth and the loss of infant son, Donald Edward. On August 1, 1957 Ed married Lucille V. Henderson (deceased) and they shared a son, William R. Beavers (Valarie).

He was a boilermaker and welder by trade and worked many years for Interstate Engineers. He received a teacher license and taught welding at the West Virginia Industrial School for Boys and later made a career with the Taylor County Board of Education as the Welding Instructor at Grafton High School.

He enjoyed visits from his previous students. Ed was a Methodist by faith and served the Knottsville and Haymond Churches. He and Lucille sang in the choir.

During his lifetime he enjoyed hunting and active participation in the Grafton Lodge #15 AF&AM where he was Past Master, Copestone Chapter 12 R.AM., Demolay Commandry #11 KT, Osiris Temple Wheeling, pas treasurer and member of the Taylor County Shrine Club, and the Taylor County Water Board. After retirement, he honored his comrades at over 2000 committal services as a member of the Taylor County Honor Guard.

During the past year, Ed made several friends of the fine people at the Wallace B. Nursing Facillity.

In addition to his children he is survived by grandchildren, David, Christi, Heather, and Garrett Kelley, Dyan , Sophie, and Sydney Ivy; great-grandchildren, Sami, Kelley, Mackenzie, Kaybella, Connor, Nico, Kohen, and Remy Layne; and one great-great granddaughter, Zana Hope.

The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Tuesday, July 26th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Wednesday.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Lay Minister James Arnold officiating.
Interment will follow at the Knottsville Cemetery.

Military graveside services will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard and the Army National Guard of Kingwood.
Masonic graveside services will be conducted by the Grafton Lodge 15 AF&AM
