He was born in Auburn and passed the greater part of his life there. During later years he had lived in Syracuse and last October went to make his home in Genoa. He had been a traveling salesman for 37 years. For many years he was in the employ of the W. A. Davis Tobacco Co. of Syracuse and also engaged in the automobile business in Syracuse. For the past three years he was in the employ in the Ivanhoe Food Products business of Auburn.
Mr. Welty was a member of Scipio Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the United Commercial Travelers of Auburn.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Hutchison Welty; one son, H. J. Welty, Binghamton and grand-daughter, Nancy Welty of Binghamton.
Funeral services conducted at the homein Genoa Wednesday afternoon. Rev. C. G. Langford, pastor of the Federated Church officiated. Burial was in Genoa Rural Cemetery.
